Production scanning

Introduction

Ongoing WMS has a production module which allows warehouses to produce new goods. A simple example is that the warehouse may produce a box which contains samples of various articles. More complex workflows are also possible. For instance, the system has full tracking of batch numbers and expiry dates which allows the production module to be used for food items.

Scanning workflow

When using a scanner to produce items, the workflow is as follows:

  1. Choose a production order.
  2. Choose which line you wish to work on.
  3. Scan each input article.
  4. When all inputs have been scanned, press the Produce button to confirm that you are done.
This is repeated until everything has been produced.

It is up to you to determine what you wish to scan. For some types of items, it is enough to just scan the EAN code of each input item. For more complex production flows, you may wish to also scan the batch number of all of inputs. This allows you to trace exactly where each batch ends up.
